Personal Profile - Brian Wake

Brian looking seriousMy interests in Morgans began at a young age, the only car in our close at the time was a three wheeler owned by an Ex RAF Officer which he later replaced with a plus four flat rad. Having seen his new car I was even more determined to own a Morgan. Little did I realise that it would be 48 years before my dream was realised, and what pleasures owning a Morgan would bring.

Carole and I visited many a Classic Car show at Birmingham and it was following one of these shows that Carole persuaded me to stop talking about buying a Morgan but get a move on and buy one. So a quick visit to Allon White resulted in an order being placed for a new 4/4. Then followed a chance meeting with a Morgan owner who suggested that we buy a used car rather than wait three years for a new one. Another visit to Allon Whites resulted is us becoming the proud owners of a 1994 4/4. Reg M2 MOG in December 1998, later replaced with new plus four in April 2005.

Our first trip was a two week holiday in France travelling right down to the Spanish boarder, top down all the time, we were surprised by the amount of attention the car received where ever we stopped, returning from a restaurant or the shops the car was always surrounded by French people wanting to know more. For the first couple of years we did not know too much about Cranmog we had read the reports in miscellany but had not attended any noggins Etc. This was soon put right by myself attending an open meeting at the Red Lion, I arrived to find a large crowd in the Bar all enjoying a quite drink and chat, however this was soon interrupted by a loud voice bellowing "good evening chaps & chapesses the Chairman's here" yes Philip Bell had arrived.

From then on Carole joined me at the noggins and we soon discovered that Cranmog liked to party, not much talk about big ends, crankshafts etc, but great picnics, annual parties and trips out, all of which we have thoroughly enjoyed.

Last year I was honoured to become Centre Treasurer and thank you for trusting me with your money.
