Personal Profile - Anita Jordan

My first real introduction to the Morgans marque was early March 1980 when I spotted a pretty 1977 white 4/4 in the Volvo showroom in Canterbury. Yes, of course I knew what the Morgan looked like but never had the opportunity to get a close look at one.

I have never been very interested in cars; motorcycles have been in my blood since childhood. I was in the market for a new car and was considering purchasing an MG Midget. I called into the showroom and was captivated by the Morgan. I test drove the car around Canterbury and Tony the Salesman vowed he would never go in a Morgan again. (I hope it was nothing to do with my driving). I took delivery of ‘Snowdrop’ on 19th March 1980 that began my love affair with Morgans.

I joined the Morgan Sports Car Club during 1980. How could the previous owner part with such a lovely car? I was delighted with her, each week I washed and polished my pride and joy. I had a garage built to keep her snug and cosy at night. Living on the seafront at Herne Bay she needed to be protected from the icy north winds.

Each day my route home from Canterbury College of Technology took me past the same showroom, now also a BMW distributor. Low and behold a magnificent 1983 red + 8 had taken pride of place in the showroom inviting a test drive from an appreciative enthusiast. Needless to say I rushed in and persuaded the same Salesman Tony to let me test drive the car. Poor chap that was some test drive! – With foot to floor the Harbledown by-pass proved to be an excellent stretch of road to put it through its paces. Tony refused to go out with me ever again, I think I scared the pants off him. On 24th June 1985 Snowdrops big brother ‘Henry’ arrived. The red + 8 snarling monster became the newest love in my life. The previous owner purchased a BMW! What would I do with Snowdrop? I kept her of course and both cars still sleep in our garage.

During 1990 reasonably young, free and single I met Richard on Morgans Over America I. I still owned and rode a motorcycle – ‘George’, an amazing red and black Kawasaki GPZ 500 but sold this shortly before our marriage. We married in July 1993. With our marriage our Morgan family increased with the addition of Richard’s 1979 red + 8.

I have been the Treasurer for CranMog since January 1996. Prior to moving from Kent to Buckinghamshire I attended both HopMog and London Centres.
