Mevagissey
Our
Bi-annual jaunt to Mevagissey on the Cornish Riviera began on the 14th
September 2001. Around 24 Cranmog moggies made the pilgrimage along with
one from the London centre.
Planned by David and Loraine Ould, the Mevagissey weekend took in a number
of local attractions including the Eden Project on the Saturday and a
leisurely drive around the narrow windy roads of Cornwall on the Sunday.
 The
main stop off point was a fine pub at Kings Ferry. Here, were were joined
by a marvelous 1927 (?) Lagonda belonging to the parents of Tinmog members
Pam and Peter who's cute daughter, Charlotte, just loved posing for the
camera.
The pub had a Brazilian student behind the bar who was really taken by
the all the Morgans outside. Well, there were 24 of them. She requested
that someone take a picture of her beside one and chose John Donavan as
her sidekick. Maurice, not wanting to miss out on such a "Miss"
muscled in. Hasn't he got a big smile?
On
the last night we dined at the School House, made famous throughout Cranmog
two years previous when some un-named member "stole" two risque
framed prints from the Gents' toilets. Safely returned some time later,
I beleive they are now screwed to the wall although were removed for our
photograph here. And, in order that we don't forget what these girls look
like, there's some close-ups also.
One of the most notable events during this jaunt to Cornwall was the
epidemic of serious sickness that was suffered many. Philip Bell was heard
to say that he seriously though he was going to die. The cause was assumed
to be food poisioning although nobody could suggest any one dish that
everyone had eaten. You'll be thankful to know that there are no pictures
of this particular episode.
Our thanks go to David and Loraine Ould for arranging this enjoyable
weekend. Cranmog presented David and Lorraine with a miniature flying
jacket for their young son, Taymer.
