About Cranmog

During 1972 Ian Galloway had thoughts of forming a centre in the Cranfield area. He asked Eric White, of Allon White & Sons, the local Morgan agent, for a list of local Morgan owners who might be interested. He contacted them and received a positive response an initial meeting was held at Ian and Helka Galloway’s house during late 1972. This was followed on 24th January 1973 with a meeting at ‘’The Swan Revived’’, Newport Pagnell, formally ‘’The Swan’’ prior to being raised to the ground in the 1800’s. In excess of 50 people crowded into The Revival Bar, since re-named The Frog and Nightgown bar. CranMog was formed and Ian Galloway was the first Secretary, followed by Roy Turner, David Pilgrim and finally John Crummie who took over the position of Secretary during January 1978 and has done an excellent job for 28 years up until the Autumn of 2005. We are delighted that some of the members who attended the first meeting are still regular attendees at CranMog: - Philip Bell, John Crummie and Laurie Povey.

CranMog is a Centre of the Morgan Sports Car Club (MSCC. It's objectives include encouraging contact between MSCC members through the promotion of sporting and social events, the exchange of information, technical and otherwise, together with matters of general interest to Morgan owners and enthusiasts. To see the full Constitution please Click Here. An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held every year in January. Affiliated members wishing to raise issues at the AGM shall notify the Centre Secretary in writing at least 2 weeks prior to the AGM. Nominations are made by the members. The Twang's the ThangCranmog Open Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month. For the last two years we have been meeting from 8:30pm at the "The Jolly Coopers" at Wardhedges, Nr Flitton. In January, instead of the Open Meeting we hold the Cranmog Annual General Meeting, then in December we have a Carol Concert accompanied by a brass band. A buffet is provided at all meetings.  In addition we have a full calendar of regular events.

The CranMog birthday party held each January at "The Dolphin Hotel", St Ives near Huntingdon. Judy Bell has arranged this fantastic event for many years. The party is very popular and normally we have 120-130 in attendance. In 2003 the musicians amoungst us formed the Cranmog Plus 5, a 6 piece band so we now have a full lineup of entertainment, whatever next? When Cranmoggers celebrate their birthday they do it in style!

In recent years Dallas Jones has arranged a visit to the Le Mans 24-hour race and a group of over 60 Morgans can be expected to set up camp adjacent to the circuit. The annual MOG event is another excellent weekend and each year a different member arranges the hotel accommodation for CranMog.

Cranmog Crackers and Knackers in actionThe Reydon weekend in October is one not to be missed. Traditionally this is held the weekend when the clocks go back but in 2004 it had to be the week after. On Friday evening we enjoy a formal dinner followed by in-house Disco from Bob and after the many speeches, Cranmog Plus 5 will enterain us. On Saturday we don our disguises and enjoy a themed fancy dress party. Karen Redfern always arranges this fantastic weekend. For many years during November we have held a Cheese and Wine party. The venue for some years being either Sindy and Melvyn’s premises The Morgan Garage, Little Hallingbury, or Allon White's Sports cars in Cranfield where John Bellenger and his team look after us.

Warwick Castle - Visited in February 2001 but not enetered on the grounds of extortionate fees

In addition we have started regular visits to Bletchley Park, The Mendips, Lincolshire Wolds, plusmany more ad hoc events such as visits to Warwick Castle, Gaydon Motor Heritage Centre, Stondon Motor Museum, cruises on the Grand Union Canal and trips to the beach to paddle in the sea.
